WHO WE ARE
In 1995 a group of Somali women started the sewing group as they wanted to learn to sew. Now 24 years, the group welcomes women and children of all socio-economic backgrounds, cultures and faiths.
OUR MISSION
The MWSG is open to all women and children of any culture and any faith or none. It provides opportunities for everyone to teach and learn sewing skills to join our community and to learn English in a safe and friendly environment.
Sewing is fun, useful and satisfying. Sewing together and helping each other creates a community where everyone is welcome and accepted.
At our sewing group all kinds of women:
-
Teach and learn machine sewing and other crafts.
-
Make and mend things.
-
Practice English.
-
Learn about one another.
-
Support each other.
-
Work together on projects.
EVERYONE IS IMPORTANT
Sometimes it is hard to meet people or learn new things. Maybe because it is expensive, you have trouble with English, are busy with children, have health problems or are newly arrived.
We are here to make it easier.
